FLP leader Mahendra Chaudhry said Babla was a successful cane farmer and social worker.
Mr Babla had been the MP for the Tavua Indian Communal Constituency since 1992. He was a secretary of the Tavua branch of the FLP, the National Farmers Union, and manager of the Balata primary and secondary schools in Tavua.
“Anand was pretty much a grassroots person, very well respected and liked in his community,” Mr Chaudhry said.
