Written By : EMONI NARAWA. Ratu Naisa Narukutabua has been ruled out of the second leg of the IRB Sevens Series in Wellington and San Diego.
Digicel National sevens coach Waisale Serevi said a knee injury prevented Narukutabua from taking part in the second leg.
Serevi said this was not the end of the series for the Nadroga lad who looked forward to feature for Fiji in his first Wellington 7s.
“Naisa has got a knee injury and that is why we have left him out of the squad for the second leg. He will be considered for the other leg,” Serevi said.
Narukutabua made his debut for Fiji at the Hong Kong 7s last year. He was one of the standouts at the first leg.
The recent adverse weather conditions has took its toll on the preparation of the sevens squad.
“It has affected our preparation as a lot of players have not been able to make it to camp.”
Filimoni Botitu is the new inclusion in the 15 member squad which was released to attend camp. Veteran Lemeki Duidomo has also been given the nod and now would be considered for the second leg.
“After the first leg I have already told the players to expect some changes. If we lose then we need a couple of changes,” Serevi said.
The 15-member squad is expected to march into camp at Nasova this afternoon.
The Wellington sevens would be held from February 6-7.
