Written By : MACIU MALO. All Blacks 7s mentor Gordon Tietjens is banking on rugged Nadroga native Save Toakula to spearhead his team at their home turf.
Tietjens told SunSports that the Waikato winger could turn heads in second clusters.
He said Tokula has been impressive during their trainings and was outstanding during some of the trial matches they played. “Save is winger in 15s for Waikato and I’m using him in the forwards for the 7s team.”
“Save will have a very bright year ahead of him taking into consideration his speed and built.”
“He will be one player that I will bank on.”
Apart from Tokula, three other Fijian players in Tomasi Cama jnr, Lote Raikabula and Viliame Waqaseduadua all made the cut, a history in the making for the All Blacks 7s team as four Fijians to play in one NZ 7s team.
Other Fijian players that have played for the All Blacks 7s team in previous years include Paula Bale, Joeli Vidiri, Luke Erenavula, Aisea Tuilevu, Amasio Raoma and national Digicel 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula.
