And their medal haul had helped Fiji maintain its lead in the medal tally after day nine of the competition.
Jo Vueti won two gold medals in his weightlifting category but had to settle with silver with his 127kg lift in the snatch. Samoa won gold in this category.
Bill Andrews won two bronze medals in the 69kg division and young Raijieli Taqua won three bronze in the women’s 69 kg.
Weightlifting has managed to rake in a total of eight gold medals, a silver medal and five bronze.
“It has been a great performance from the weightlifters and we are more than happy with the medals,” said Fiji weightlifting manager Chris Yee.
“We are expecting another medal in the men’s 94kg when Saimoni Turaganivalu takes part tomorrow (today). He will get strong competition in this division but we are expecting medals.
“Some of these lifters are new to the sport but they have performed gallantly. Vueti missed one gold medal in the snatch with his Samoan counterpart beating him by just a kg.
“Raijieli Taqua gave her best shot and managed to achieve a personal best on her way to winning bronze.”
Bill Andrew won the clean and jerk with a lift of 110kg and the total of 195kg.
14 year old Raijieli Taqua lifted 55kg in the snatch, 81kg in the clean and jerk and for a total of 136 to win three bronze medals yesterday.
