Written By : LOSALINI RASOQOSOQO. The people of Lakeba in the Lau Group have welcomed the arrival of Pacific Sun flight services to their island yesterday.
Pacific Sun’s arrival saw the resumption of flight services to the island after nine months after Air Fiji Limited ceased operation in April.
Lakeba Post Master, Pita Bakani, said the return of flight services was a relief to islanders.
“People are happy because we are able to get air services again. There was a full flight that arrived in the morning flight (yesterday) and it went back full, Mr Bakani said from Lakeba yesterday.
Mr Bakani said the weekly flights would enable mail delivery to islanders.
“Now mail delivery will be normal again. Instead of waiting for a month for our mails to be delivered, we will receive mails weekly.
“We have been told that flights will come once in a week. We hope that there would be two flights weekly in the future. We are glad that services have resumed,” he added.
