The following has been achieved within the Department since 2007 Roadmap.
l Reviewed Rural Electrification Policy reducing community contribution from 10% of total cost to 5% of total costs
l Draft Fiji Energy Security situation report and submitted
l National Bio-fuels Steering Committee approves green paper on Liquid Bio-fuel Policy for consultations within Government Departments and Ministries
l The Department completed 129 projects worth $1,305,145.32 on rural electrification projects on Grid Extension, House Wiring and Diesel scheme Installation, while another 54 projects worth$2,181,288 is under construction
l Undertook Solar Water Pump project at Mali Island in Macuata.
l Launch of the Sustainable Energy Financing Project funded by World Bank, Roll out of the Standards and Labeling programme which involved importation of energy efficient refrigerators and appliances
l 211 FEA schemes [house wiring] and 42 grid extension completed [ 38 pending from 2007
l Paid $4,841746 to connect 3077 rural households to the FEA grid
l 10 diesel generator installed and 8 house wiring in rural villagers
l Installation of 41 SHS at Loa village and 167 for other areas in Cakaudrove
l Obtained Tender Board Approval for 28 new communities
l Collected over $100,000 from SHS revenue
l Installation of Solar photometers at Keyasi Government Station, Navosa and Wainunu Nursing Station in Bua
l Installation of Wind monitoring system at Nabouwalu in Bua
l Completed the first phase of training for Biogas builders at Koronivia Research Station
l Completed 5 biogas units
l Installation of Solar Lights for Jetty at Muanivanua Landing, Koro Island
l Surveys and continuous monitoring of solar wind and hydro potential sites
l Obtained Tender Board Approval for the procurements of portable coconut oil mill for Nacamaki village in Koro
l Somosomo Hydro Drafty EIA report submitted land acquired and premium paid, road construction begins
l New Department website launched by ITC,
l Media and face to face campaign on Energy saver and energy efficiency launched
l Competition launched on Energy Saver and Energy Efficiency for Businesses Households and Schools. Business Category included in the annual Fiji Business Excellence Award.

Department of Water and Sewerage

Since the 2007 Road Map the following has been achieved with in the Department of Water and Sewerage.

l Establishments of the Fiji Water Authority under the Public Enterprise Act of 1996 as a fully commercial statutory authority to assume the core functions, roles and responsibilities of the Department of Water and Sewerage into the new entity.
l Appointment of the Board members, the Chief Executive Officer and the Management of the Fiji Water Authority.
l Replacement of consumer Water Meters which are defective nation wide. Meter rehab and augmenting program continue to allow replacements of all defective water meters thus to capture unaccounted for water into households premises of consumer.
l The Total number of meter replaced- Central Eastern 546, Western-329 and North-873.
l Upgraded and extended the Ba Regional Water Supply scheme, its distribution network to enable improved supply to areas presently served, as well as to extend to those outside the present supply boundary and improving operational efficiency of the water supply system
l Completed the reconstruction of the Nadrou Raw Water Intake Rising Main under the Flood Damage Rehabilitation Works Program
l Upgrade and extend of existing water supply systems including distribution, network and minor mains extensions in the Rakiraki Regional Water Scheme
l Trunk main upgrade-Construction of the 600mm duck tile pipe from Waimalika to Sabeto Road junction
l Completed design and planning work for the new Savusavu Water and Sewerage Treatment Plants. Construction to commence the approval of the Chinese Loan
l Acquiring of a land in Navua for the construction of the Navua Sewerage Treatment Plant. Planning and Design has been completed.
l Design and Construction of a new sewerage system for the Tavua Regional Sewerage scheme. EIA study is being drafted by the Department of Environment.
l Construction of 375 dia water main from Voua to Natadola completed, Construction of Natadola Reservoirs and Water main completed and Telemetry works for reservoir.
l Completion of outstanding components of works at Navakai STP before expiry of Defects Liability period in October, Review of Nadi Regional Sewerage Master Plan, Replacement and Upgrading sewerage pump stations and reticulation network.
