Retailers review 2009

Written By : Sun Fiji Newsroom. The Fiji Retailers Association (FRA) revealed that a devaluation experienced by business in 2009 was cushioned by the new vision provided in the 2010 National Budget.
FRA President, Himmat Lodhia, said this as they welcome the New Year saying 2009 was a mixed year for business.
“The vision by Government showed a lot of positive changes in the system. Lifestyles changed with some changes including daylight saving.
“We are happy for the country’s leaders as they come to the table and talk things amicably to take the nation forward. The politics of winning points can come later. Leaders need to think of the nation before their own personal and political agendas,” he added.
Mr Lodhia said 2009 was history and people had to move forward this year.
“Otherwise we will be bogged with the past which will only drain us. Right now, we all have a responsibility to move the nation forward. There are a lot of Fiji watchers on the horizon who want to invest in Fiji and who intend to assist the country in many positive ways.”
“Civil servants and civil society level, we all need to chip in to create a corrupt free and hard working lot and everybody needs to work with a sense of national pride.
“If all the people of our nation get together and play their part diligently and sincerely, we will have a 2010 of peace, progress and prosperity for all,” Mr Lodhia added.
