Among them was 30-year-old Isimeli Marawa of Nadawa, Nasinu.
Mr Marawa said that the best time to shop was during the festive season.
“As a consumer there is no change in the price of goods compared to last year, but I am surprised to see people flocking into supermarkets even though we are going through financial difficulties.
“ Business people should be acknowledged for always meeting consumers demand throughout the year,” he said.
Mr Marawa said people should not focus on buying unnecessary things but daily needs.
Nanise Tabega, 19, of Colo-i-Suva, was amused on varieties of products on sale yesterday.
“We are grateful to see infrastructural development taking place in the business industry in our country.
“Now when we enter the shopping malls it offers an aura of overseas shopping experience and we are grateful for that,” she said.
A supermarket owner who wished to remain unknown said that their business was a success in 2009 because of consumers initiative.
