Esala Masi laid to rest tomorrow

Written By : LAVENIA VUADREU. Ba Football Association expresses great sadness at the death of Esala Masi (Snr).
Masi Snr, a football icon his time, died at the Lautoka Hospital earlier this week.
He was part of the national team and captained the 1968 team which toured New Zealand, Australia, and New Caledonia.
Masi Snr was also part of the Fiji team in the 1963 South Pacific Games in Suva.
“Ba has lost a great son,” Ba FA spokesperson Pravin Bala said.
“We all sympathise with the family at the sad loss of Esala Masi. He was a player, administrator and father figure for Ba Football Association. The people of Ba mourn his passing,” Bala said.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow. His body will leave his home in Ba for the church service at 9.30am at the Methodist Church in Ba Town.
He will be laid to rest at the Naidrodro Cemetary.
Masi is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
His sons Osea and Manoa Masi have represented Ba and the national team, while his nephews Esala Masi Junior and Malakai Kainahewe are also former Ba and national reps.
