Written By : SHRATIKA NAIDU. Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa project department employees had a splendid lovo for lunch as part of Christmas celebrations yesterday.
More than 10 employees contributed money and bought food items for their lovo for Christmas.
Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa mill extra second engineer, Tevita Ravulo said all the employees have been talking about Christmas for more than a month and wished to have a get-together before the year ends.
“Since the mill opened for crushing we’ve been working very hard and most of the time we don’t have time to sit down together and have some friendly chat,” Mr Ravulo said.
He said the workers have been working hard to ensure that the mill operates daily.
“Despite some setbacks we will still continue to work to help the back bone of Fiji’s economy, the sugar industry, survive,” Mr Ravulo said.
He said since this Christmas is a long weekend, they decided to have a party and share good and fond memories.
“Although I’m originally from Rakiraki, Viti Levu, I would like to wish the people of the North a merry Christmas because I love their friendly nature,” Mr Ravulo said.
He said he understood the situation sugarcane farmers in Vanua Levu faced and believed that the operation of the mill would improve if everyone worked together.
