The accident allegedly involved a bus, a 10-wheeler truck and a taxi.
Police confirmed that a number of passengers on the bus were treated at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s accident and emergency department for injuries.
Eye witnesses at the scene claimed that the truck hit the back of the bus before it collided with a taxi.
The bus driver, Radesh Chand said the truck hit the bus that was on its way to Suva.
“The 10-wheeler truck collided with the rear of the bus and then a cab,” he alleged.
“The passengers had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
“I think that the truck driver lost control and that led to the collision.
“After it collided with the cab, it went off lane and towards a street cleaner along Edinburgh Drive,” he said.
“Luckily the man jumped out of the truck’s way.
“If not the man would have been dead by now,” Mr Chand said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a loaded garbage truck tumbled on its side after hitting a private car.
The accident saw rubbish scattered along Nasinu Road.
