Media liaison and events management officer Lenora Qereqeretabua said, “There were many reasons for our customers to celebrate including our 16th Birthday in July, the TXT Rush Promotion, and a few challenges.
Some of their milestone achievements this calendar year included;
n The launch of Vodafone Red Alert to raise funds for cyclone Tomas victims in March.
“In the immediate aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Tomas, Vodafone Fiji launched RED ALERT, an SMS-based fundraising initiative already successfully deployed by its overseas counterparts to raise funds for disaster relief efforts around the world,” she said.
n The change of the tagline from “Make the Most of Now” to “Power to You” in May.
“Vodafone Fiji became the latest affiliate of the global brand to adopt its new tagline, with the simpler ‘power to you’ replacing ‘make the most of now’. The change from ‘make the most of now’ to ‘power to you’ represents a major shift in how we think about ourselves and customers and how we communicate,” she said.
n Prime Minister launched M-PAiSA in June.
“M-PAiSA is a mobile phone based money transfer that allows registered users to send and receive money directly through their mobile phones. Effectively, your mobile phone now becomes m-wallet and store of money in electronic form,” she said.
n Pay bills using M-PAiSA in October.
Vodafone Fiji has launched bill pay facility that now enables its customers to pay bills using their popular money transfer service, M-PAiSA. To start with, Vodafone postpay customers are now able to pay their bills directly from their mobile phones via M-PAiSA.
n Vodafone slashes rates in November.
“Reductions of up to 66 per cent on FlashNet rates were given this month.
“Customers can now get 500 Mb of data for as little as $15. Rates on all FlashNet recharge denominations have reduced and customers can now get more data for less. Vodafone has also made it easy to recharge FlashNet. Customers can now use normal vouchers to recharge FlashNet and these are available through all channels,” she said.
n Vodafone wins Fiji Business Excellence Awards for a record third time in November.
“Winning this prestigious award three times has placed Vodafone in a unique position in Fiji. This achievement has come about as a result of commitment. As a company we have committed to making continuous improvement at all levels of the business, innovating, improving productivity and showing the evidence,” Ms Qereqeretabua said.
Their biggest challenge, she said, had to do with the enormity of the task of registering all our customers in compliance with the Phone Service Decree 2010.
“We spent approximately $3 million in this undertaking in our determination to reach and register as many of our customers as possible in the time given,” she said.
