image Written By : RITESH KUMAR. Angel Southern Forest Navua defeated Royal Tea Shop N Save Nadi 4-0 in the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League game at TFL National Stadium yesterday.
Navua, coached by former National technical director Saiyad Ali, outclassed Nadi in all facets of the game.
Praneel Kumar scored the first goal for Navua in the 4th minute laying the platform for their convincing win.
“I’m satisfied,” Ali said.
“This is my first game as coach of this team and the players played well.
Association president Anil Sharma said their aim was to form a formidable side for the Courts Inter-District Championship next month.
“Ali is our interim coach at the moment as we prepare for the IDC,” Sharma said.
Navua led 3-0 at halftime and in the second half they continued the match with the same momentum to win.
Meanwhile, Nadi president Jitendra Kumar is concerned about the condition of the TFL National Stadium turf.
“IDC is scheduled for next month at this venue and the ground is not in a good condition to play soccer.
“Our players are not able to display constructive soccer because of the hard surface,” Kumar said.
“Fiji FA should reconsider their decision of holding this tournament at the National Stadium if the turf is not improved,” Kumar said.
