Ratunaisa Narukutabua is the first Fijian to have a professional rugby contract in Romania.
And he has helped another Nadroga rep, Samu Laqai secure a contract in Bucharest as well. The other player playing in Romania is Sailasa Ratu.
From Dax in France to Romania, Narukutabua has been playing well for his Constant club.
“There are not so much foreigners playing rugby there but our performance has seen some clubs looking for more Fijians to join clubs in Romania. I’m enjoying playing in Romania where I’m also playing alongside some national Romania reps. We’re playing in the Top 10 competition but rugby is still developing there and our season  begins in March,” Narukutabua said.
The former Digicel Fiji 7s rep said trying to return to playing 7s was a bit tough for him especially when he’s been playing 15’s for a long time in France and Romania.
From his usual position of outside centre, Narukutabua has been moved to work from the inside at second five.
He arrived into the country last month and joined the Navosa Warriors for the Coral Coast Sevens.
“Sevens has really changed and improved in standard since I last played. It’s amazing to see many young talents showing good skills,” Narukutabua said.
He is expected to return to Romania in January with his family.
