National netball coach Unaisi Rokoura.

Unaisi Rokoura has warned netball players who are vying for a spot in the World Netball Championship in 2015 to commit themselves to the two-year programme.
The National netball coach said the high performance programme for the national team would be implemented in the New Year.
“It’s important the players have a different mindset towards preparing for the WNC 2015,” Rokoura said.
“Those who attended the workshop have now a clear picture of what’s waiting for them in 2013.  Each player will need to take responsibility.  This is a two-year programme as we head to the next WNC.
“2013 will see the high performance programme for our National players up and running.  We held a workshop earlier this month for the players introducing them to the programme.
“It is important that these players understand their role as elite players. Being a high performance athlete does not only require focus on skills alone but there are other more important fundamentals that they need to understand and training themselves to commit to it.
“Once they have fully understood the importance of these fundamentals such as proper nutrition, mental preparation, strength and conditioning, they can call themselves elite athletes.”
Rokoura added no player should think they were indispensable.
“Nobody is indispensable. These players must understand that we will not waste any time as we begin our preparation.
“Those who do not commit to the programme will be removed from the programme.  If we want to be competitive against the top nations than it’s about time we start acting and living like elite players,” Rokoura said.
