Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad has called on all its fans not to take the law into their own hands.
He made the comments after the Lautoka fans abused and threatened match officials including referee Ravitesh Behari after the Lautoka – Rewa match at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
“I thank the Blues supporters for coming out in big numbers,” Prasad said.
“I do understand their anger and frustration which has been caused by match officials.”
A spectator hurled a plastic bottle towards the four officials as they made their way towards the grandstand tunnel.
“Referees are the sole arbiters and what they decides hold although we may disagree,”Prasad said.”
He agreed with the fans but stressed the commotion should not be repeated.
Most of the fans disputed the decision by Behari to send off Lautoka’s Ali Anthony.
Behari said Ali was sent off for making remarks at match officials.
