It was back to school for Waisale Dausoko and George Vokiti at Tavua College yesterday.
And they made the school proud after winning two gold medals and setting two records during the 2013 Coca-Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium last week.
Dausoko broke a record set by Iliesa Keresoni of Lelean Memorial School in 2004.
He leaped pass Keresoni’s 6.95 metres for a new record of 7.09m.
And what better way to do it than to be coached by someone who has been there before.
Dausoko is coached by a former Xavier student long jump rep Kali Ratuvuki.
Vokiti broke FM 96’s Breakfast Show host Mohammed Antonio Rahiman’s (1.84m) 15-year-old record.
He jumped to a new height of 1.85m.
“They both won silver medals last year and this year it was pure commitment from them,” Ratuvuki said.
“They were both determined to win gold and break records, we’re happy because that’s exactly what they did.”
