FUNDING THE
NADI FORUM

For those who have had questions about the funding of the Pacific Islands Development Forum, it has not been paid for by the Fijian Government.
Friendly countries supporting true Pacific Islands development have given their support for this week’s meeting at Nadi.
It’s funny how people are quick to disseminate false information. In fact, what’s more hilarious is that some are gullible enough to believe it.

GOOD SENSE
FOR FRIENDS

Good to see wiser heads intervene and prevail at that online media forum.
Our columnist Graham Davis has been accepted as a member after some intense discussion. Which is what this forum is intended to promote.
Right, let’s all now take a deep breath and move on with the constructive discussion.

HAVING
A BALL

Some inside goss about teams during the big AFL volleyball tourney.
Well, last year, one particular team which was housed at a popular spot in Nadi, during their enthusiastic after party apparently disconnected their air conditioning unit. This was found the next day by the staff on the floor.
This year, new lodgings had been found for the same team. However, after a night of drinking their driver went missing in action and a new one had to be found to drive the team back to Suva.
The missing driver has since been found.

TOURNEY
TALES

During another popular tournament which is held annually in Fiji and sees participants arriving from our neighbouring countries, word is that the boys were certainly not on their best behaviour.
There are rumours that the management of one particular team had left strict instructions with the security personnel. They said that none of the team members were to leave where they were staying.
But, things were done the Fijian way. Not only did the boys manage to leave (ably assisted by the guard) they also managed to sneak alcohol into their rooms.
Word on the street is that the guard was also left smiling.
