The Suva Golden Oldies Rugby Club wants to help fight cancer in Fiji.
The campaign which is named the Balls and Beards Action and Awareness, will see the return of some former prominent rugby stars in a one-day rugby tournament to be staged in Suva later this month.
Association vice-president Craig Smith said they wanted to raise funds and awareness towards the fight against the disease.
“This is part of our club’s activities and our objectives to keep people healthy and active,” Smith said.
“We want to raise some funds and work with the Fiji Cancer Society to hopefully next year sort some sustainable screening and testing process so that men who are of mature age, can possibly be detected as prostate cancer is now a growing concern.”
The Suva Oldies tournament will be held at the Cathedral Secondary School grounds in Nasese on November 30.
Some notable players who are involved in this cause include former 15s reps Marika Vunibaka, Viliame Gadolo, Max Olsson and Samoan Alfred Schuster and Lupeti Fihaki.
