Murder case moved to High Court

December 31
09:45 2013

A man charged with one count of murder had his case transferred to the High Court in Suva yesterday.
Suliasi Dumukuro, 25, from Kadavu appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.
Mr Ratuvili told Dumukoro that the offence of murder was an indictable offence, which was why he had transferred the case to the High Court.
Director of Police Prosecutions Mohammed Yunus appeared for the State.
Dumukoro has been remanded in custody and will reappear on January 17, 2014.
He will then apply for bail when he appears in the High Court next month.
It is alleged that Dumukuro stabbed a 33-year-old farmer of Waisomo, Kadavu, during a drinking party on Christmas Day.
