The Sigatoka Town Council is still waiting to bag in 15 per cent of rates owed for 2013.
Special administrator Jay Whyte said the council had been successful in collecting 85 per cent of rates for the year 2013.
“We have had a great 2013 and we look forward to an even more prosperous 2014 as there is a lot to offer in 2014 for Sigatoka,” Mr Whyte said.
And apart from rates owed to the council, a project next year will see the upgrading of the municipal market with an estimated cost of around $200,000.
This means good news for the vendors with better facilities to be offered for their convenience.
“This is one of our priority for the council in our plans for 2014,’’ Mr Whyte said.
He said there were plans for 2014 in the pipeline but the municipal market is the first priority.
“The project will be funded by the Government.” The council wishes the citizens of Fiji a Happy New Year and urges people to put their differences aside and move on with a new vision in mind.
