Naitasiri Rugby Union chairman, Peceli Rinakama is calling on the Fiji Rugby Union to hold the special general meeting as soon as possible.
Rinakama said the meeting would allow the union to address affiliated unions about the problems facing Fiji Rugby now.
“We are hearing a lot of problems happening to our rugby. Rugby is played by Fijians and we have our clubs and members to answer to. The Fiji Rugby Union should call the special general meeting as soon as possible to tell the unions what is happening,” Rinakama said.
“The special general meeting was postponed last December because of the deaths of two chiefs. We hear about a lot of changes happening at the FRU like the removal of Vilikesa Rinavuaka, Manasa Baravilala, Franck Boivert and now the International Rugby Board is suspending their help. What is happening? The unions want the FRU to tell us what is happening.”
The FRU earlier said that the meeting would be conducted this month.
Meanwhile, Rinakama said Eroni Vereivalu had been retained to coach the Naitasiri premier this year.
He will be assisted by a panel of coaches made up of former national coaches Samuela Domoni and Ilivasi Tabua, and trainers Tu Manu and Lasa Cawanibuka.
Digitaki Levaci has been appointed Under-20 coach.
“One change we have implemented this year is to allow the coaches to select their own managers. This is to encourage better communication and team work among them.”
Meanwhile, the 80-member Naitasiri squad for the year will undergo a fitness test at the Fiji Rugby Union High Performance gym at Laucala Bay, Suva on Saturday.
Rinakama said zone officials would meet next week to discuss the upcoming season.
