Vanuabalavu, Lau native and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ minister Taniela Wakolo and his family has been posted for a mission to Little Rock, Arkansas, United States.
The posting is for more than two years.
“I am excited about the call to serve God and I am happy that my wife and two children will be accompanying me,” Elder Wakolo, 46, said.
“This is the first time I will be going on a mission and will join 210 young men and women who are there to serve God.
“God is sending us to a place we have little knowledge of and we are depending on him for his guidance throughout the mission.
“Our purpose is to preach and invite others to Jesus Christ. We have learned a lot for the two and a half years we are in Fiji and I believe we will be learning more new things.”
Mr Wakolo said churches in Fiji had undergone a lot of changes.
“Churches can see eye to eye now and that is a great change.”
Anita Wakolo, his wife, said she would continue to support her husband in spreading the Good Gospel.
“It will be an opportunity to serve with him. It has taken a lot of pounding and searching through the Scriptures to prepare for the three years adventure,” Mrs Wakolo said.
The family leaves next Month.
