Villagers of Navilawa in the upper reaches of Sabeto Valley in Nadi during the opening of their Early Learning Centre on Wednesday.

Parents and villagers of Navilawa in the upper reaches of Sabeto Valley in Nadi will not face any difficulty sending their children to preschool after the opening of their $20,000 Early Learning Centre on Wednesday.
It brought an end to years of sending their children – as young as five years old – to boarding school starting from kindergarten.
The centre was built with the help of the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji’s Adopt-A-School programme.
The centre started many months ago when Janet Lotawa of Rise Beyond the Reef introduced the Raddisson Blu Responsible business team to the village and explained their needs.
Radisson Blu Fiji’s director of sales and marketing Suzie Jones said the project was co-ordinated for easy communication.
Rise Beyond the Reef co-ordinated the project in terms of communicating with both the village community and the Ministry of Education,” she said.
Some members from the resort’s engineering team had spent three days in the village to help build the centre.
The funding was raised through guest donations at the resort for over two years.
“The building took four months, and the facility now presents beautifully with a fresh coat of paint and wonderful finishing touches,” Ms Jones said.
Divisional education officer western Lorima Voravora said the centre would also be assisted by Government.
