Wainimala community urged to make use of Government’s investment.

Students and the greater Wainimala community are set to benefit from a new bakery opened recently at the Wainimala Secondary School in Naitasiri.

Minister for Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Timoci Lesi Natuva, said the bakery was an example of a Government investment complemented by the support from the community.

“The bakery will be able to generate employment opportunities for the people and assist with the provision of food security for the school and the greater Wainimala area,” Minister Natuva said.

“The Government is investing for the people and it is their turn to run the bakery with hard work and integrity. There may be challenges but press on into the future.”

Mr Natuva urged the students to work hard and reminded the parents to provide parental support continuously so that investments by the Government were sustainable and fully realised.

Principal Serenia Navoti said the bakery would boost the boarding students’ diet, something they had been planning for the past three years.

“The school is very grateful to the Government for sending a trainer that taught us on how to operate the oven and also on how to bake bread,” Mrs Navoti said.

The bakery was funded by the Government through the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management costing more than $14,000.
