She lists her hobbies as modelling, playing the guitar and meeting new people but for Anne Young the 2014 Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Festival is a good platform to raise awareness on the need to develop the fashion industry.

The 21-year-old from Raiwai is the queen contestant for Fiji Fashion Week supported by Golden Ocean Fiji Limited.

“I have worked with Fiji Fashion Week and local designers for the past five years and I have seen first hand how much the industry has grown and has created jobs,” Miss Young said.

She said that with the right support from the authorities, this would be an industry that could sustain thousands of jobs and support even more livelihoods.

“Another reason why I choose Hibiscus was because I wanted to get myself involved in something that would not only boost my confidence and self esteem but also take me further in life,” she said.

“I believe I’m hard working and I always set goals and work towards achieving them.”

Ms Young said her family was her most prized possession and she carried the values and lessons her parents had taught her as a child.

“I cherish my relationship with my parents and my siblings and the love and support I get from them is all I ever need.”
