A build-up to the Methodist Church Golden Jubilee will be held this Sunday.

Three hundred choirs from around Fiji will be participating at the FMF Gymnasium at 10 am.

Methodist Church general secretary, Reverend Tevita Banivanua said choirs from as far as the north and west will be part of the choir performing this Sunday.

“The Golden Jubilee will start from the 18 of this month and the preparation has already begun,” Rev Banivanua.

“The week-long celebration will be followed by the annual Methodist Conference, from the 25th to 29th of this month,” he said.

It will conclude with the opening of the refurbished Baker Memorial Church in Davuilevu, Nausori on October 10.

The church’s ‘Connexional Plan and Mission to the Next Fifty Years’ will be launched on October 11 and the commemoration of Cabe Ni Lotu on October 12.

This marks exactly 179 years to the day when the first Wesleyan (Methodist) missionaries arrived on the island of Lakeba.
