The Wainibuka Primary School Under-14 netball team is on its way to Labasa for next week’s Fiji Primary Schools Netball Inter-District Championship.

The team rounded up weeks of preparation yesterday with a dip in the Wainibuka River before they boarded the ferry at Natovi Jetty today to play at Subrail Park.

Their coach, Samuela Delaitubuna, said despite the first time sea travel, the players were ready and could cause upsets in their debut at the annual meet.

“We will depart for Labasa at 3am on Friday. This is the first time Wainibuka Reds are participating.

“We used to be attached to Northland, but this year Wainibuka has managed to run on its own.

“We are thankful to the school heads and the management plus the vanua for catering and for the support given to the players. The people of Wainibuka in Labasa will accommodate the girls while our relatives in Suva look after the boys in the Rewa Galaxy Kaji Rugby at the ANZ Stadium in Suva. Our girls will reign in Labasa,” he said.

The primary schools IDC would be from next Monday to Wednesday.
