The 2014 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North Lady and King contestants went through first public judging on Monday night.

Hundreds of people gathered for the event and were not disappointed as the contestants kept them entertained throughout the evening.

The night was called Pacific Night and its theme was ‘Our Environment Our Future’.

Contestants who stood out in the evening were Lady Miliana Lewatoga who is sponsored by Asco Motors, Lady Kelera Batibasaga who is sponsored by Tanoa Electrical, Lady Makelesi Raciri who is sponsored by Naitik Motor Services and Northern Electrical Hardware.

Ms Batibasaga said being part of the festival had taught her a lot of new things.

“It’s been very good, we visited so many places and have met many people,” she said.

King contestant Mosese Mamafainoa, meanwhile, spoke about climate change and the effect of rising sea level.

“I will raise awareness on this issue during the festival and how it affects our country, especially the Northern Division” he said.
