A Nadi truck driver escaped serious injuries after the truck he was driving tumbled off the road early Sunday afternoon.

According to divisional media liaison officer West, Naina Ragigia, the vehicle tumbled on it’s  side because it was overloaded with cane.

“Eyewitnesses say that along the University of Fiji road stretch, the vehicle was tilting to one side due to the cane load,” Ms Ragigia said.

“The driver received some minor injuries and received medical treatment and is now in for questioning by Police as investigations continue,” she said.

“He was on his way from Nadi to the Lautoka Mill to deliver the cut cane,” she said.

She clarified that the driver was not speeding and was below the speed limit and this prevented major injuries to him and damages to the vehicle.
