Eels president Waisea Tokikiviro says they aim to be in the Top 8 competition next season.

The Eels topped the Nadi Zone Rugby League 2014 competition and defeated Ra’s Namuaiwaqa Sea Eagles 22-16 in a torrid quarterfinal clash last weekend.

“We expect a tough match since only two teams left to make the Top 8 competition,”Tokikiviro said.

The team is made up mostly of unemployed youths with the inclusion of senior players in the likes of former Fiji U20 rugby fullback Ledua Ratumuri, Watisoni Bete, Moape Ramemena, and Waseroma Turaga.

“We also inviting our fans and supporters to come out in number and support Nadi Eels today.”

The NERLC was formed in 1994 under the name of Nadi Heron RLC which later switched to their current name in 2004.

Tokikiviro applauded the club supporters Abinesh Singh (Sunflower Aviation), James Sowane (Pacific Destinationz), Riyaz (Namaka Medisure Pharmacy) and Bruce Ratakele (a former club member in the British Army).

The Nadi Eels – Tuwalu Tigers match kicks off at 12.20pm while Lautoka Crushers take on Pacific Energy Kinoya Sea Eagles at 10.50am.

In the Top 8 semifinalS, defending champions Tifa Jek Hot Springs Sabeto Roosters take on Fair Trade Makoi Bulldogs while KBL Saru Dragons face off Dee Cees Nadera Panthers at 3.20pm.
