A new winner will be crowned in the Top 8 Vodafone Cup after Tika Jeff Hot Spring Sabeto Roosters bid to defend the title was shattered by a determined Makoi Bulldogs at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.

The Bulldogs face the KBL Saru Dragons in the grand final this weekend. The Dragons defeated the Dee Cees Nadera Panthers 24- 14 in another torrid encounter.

What happened:

In the 11th minute halfback Apisai Taoba kicked a penalty for the Bulldogs to lead 2-0.

In the 34th minute Rooster’s centre Koli Radrovi equalised with penalty.

In the 40th minute later Taoba kicked another penalty to lead 4-2 at halftime.

In the 47th minute the Roosters good combination resulted in try in the corner to second row Peniasi Senikarawa to lead for first time 4 -6.

In the 51st minute the Roosters crossed the tryline through Ilami Susu (hooker) to increase their lead 4 -10.

In the 59th minute Taoba kicked another penalty to close the gap 6-10

In the 61st minute Taoba scored a try which was not converted.

In the 67th minute winger Timoci Ratulolo scored to seal the win.

Star Turn: Jone Wesele and Apisai Taoba read the game well and played key roles in the win.

Big Play: Roosters skipper Josateki Savou marshalled his troops well in attack.

Comments: Bulldogs coach/player Jone Wesele said, “The Rooster gave us a good game. I thank the boys for coming strong in the end as this was a good victory for the team.”

Roosters coach Vela Tawake said, “It is very disappointing for us but the day belong to the Bulldogs.”
