Tikoitoga: Military Personnel In Ministries To Help

Some of the military personnel who were deployed to work in Government ministries after the change of government in 2006 are still in those ministries.

This was confirmed by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Brigadier – General Mosese Tikoitoga yesterday.

These military personnel had helped changed the work culture in the civil service.

He said: “The institution is here to help and we will continue to do that.”

Three officers – former Commissioner Western, Commander Joeli Cawaki, former Commissioner Central, Lieutenant -Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou and former Commissioner Eastern, Lieutenant- Colonel Netani Rika have resigned. He said the three had decided to contest the general elections.

He said the next government would decide on the future of those currently in government ministries.

“If they are told to leave, they’ll come back to the barracks.”

He said the military was here to help all and would respond positively to all requests.

He adds that even though they are in government ministries their loyalty to the RFMF still stands.
