A disappointed Waisea Kativerata has raised questions on why Shane Morris was considered the Vodafone Fiji Bati coach when he did not meet the proper requirements of the interview process.

In an interview on Tuesday, Fiji National Rugby League chairman Reverend Dr Immanuel Reuben stated that “Shane came personally for the interview; his interview was done a day later than Wise. Shane was present with his wife and had an interview on Saturday morning.”

Speaking from Sydney yesterday Kativereta said he was interviewed on July 28, which was on a Monday while Morris was interviewed on August 9, which fell on a Saturday.

“So does Saturday come after Monday? There is something not right here,” the Verata, Tailevu native queried.

When contacted yesterday Reverend Reuben says, “I am not really sure on the date of Shane Morris interview”.

He indicated that after the closing date they had a board meeting and they were to inform the candidates about their availability because they are also mindful of their own work commitments and family.

“But there was no set date on when they could come down for an interview; they could come down when they were free.”

Kativerata said that was not the case because he was told by the FNRL board to attend the interview on a certain date and time.

“I paid my airfares to Fiji for the interview and was there right on time,” he said.
