Members and supporters of the FijiFirst party gathered at Albert Park, Suva, last night as counting of results started and continued into the night.

As the results poured out, the gathering was made merrier with serenading, cheers and lots of kava.

Voters and party members from around the Central Division gathered at the park as they waited for the results.

Party general-secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, joined the gathering in the early evening and was greeted with cheers and handshakes. Also among the crowd were FijiFirst candidates Apakuki Kurusiga and Ashneel Sudhakar

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the event was organised because there were many supporters who wanted to get together and express their support.

“We also wanted this to be a family affair as there are people around the grog bowl, munchies going around and laughter being shared,” he said.

As the night moved on, more supporters joined the gathering.

There will also be gathering today at the same venue for supporters to come together and continue to show their support for FijiFirst.
