Intel says it has several manufacturers building new computers based on the novel dual-screen laptop concept it has just unveiled.

The chip giant hopes a second screen on the front lid will extend the usability of dedicated computers, which are coming under threat from smart phones and tablets.

The device features an e-ink black and white display, which can be used even when the computer is in a very-low power state.

It can be customised to display anything from “digital stickers” to internet content or e-books.

But is this just a gimmick or a genuinely useful feature? The BBC’s North America technology correspondent Richard Taylor spoke to Murali Veeramoney, head of the concept PC programme at Intel.
