Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association is anticipating tourism numbers this year to exceed the previous record from 2011 of 675,000 visitor arrivals.

Association president, Dixon Seeto, said in terms of arrivals this year, they are tracking well and have had some increases when compared to the past year.

Mr Seeto noted that our visitor arrivals after 2011 had been falling slightly which he attributed to the natural disasters etc.

“But, so far from January to June, we are already up by four per cent,” he said.

“Last year January to June we had 296,787 visitor arrivals and this year, it is 308,611. So at the half way mark, we are already ahead.”
