The Sitiveni Racele captained- Elisha Engineering Nailaga FC defeated defending champion Four R FC 2-0 during the Metal Works-sponsored Ba Football Local League competition at Govind Park in Ba last Sunday.

Jone Naio, who also plays fullback for the Ba rugby ream, scored from a free kick in the 60th minute which left goalkeeper Epeli Codro baffled.

In the 80th minute striker Lacanivalu Asikinasa extended the lead after being set up by Racele. Four R had current Ba reps such as Epeli Codro, Remueru Tekiate, Meli Codro and Avinesh Suwamy.

Nailaga coach Taito Bula said they were happy with the victory as they remained undefeated in Pool A.

“It was a pleasant surprise for us to see Four R, as defending champions losing by such margin to an ordinary team like Nailaga,” said Bula.

Bula said they aimed to play in the National Club Championship.

“The bigger picture is for us to play for the first time in the NCC and the competition is not yet over. We need to push for consistency this season,” he said.
