FijiFirst parliamentarian Jioje Konrote is ready to help the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama move the nation forward.

In an interview at his residence at 60 Pathik Crescent, Namadi, Suva the former politician and soldier said he joined the FijiFirst party because of the developments it had carried out in the last eight years.

He said he was the link for the Government in all development projects carried out on the island of Rotuma.

“People on the island of Rotuma are now enjoying all the developments carried out by the Bainimarama-led Government, something the island lacked in past years,” he said.

The former Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said he had a lot of support from the Rotuma community and other Fijians. In 2006, he had won the Rotuman communal seat as an independent. He is also a graduate of the Kennedy School of Government at the prestigious Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States.

However, he had reminded suporters on Rotuma Island that he was going into parliament to fight for all Fijians.

He said he had never wanted to be a politician but because of his involvement with the people on Rotuma, he changed his mind. “For the developments to be carried out, I have to be with the decision makers and that’s parliament.”

Mr Konrote thanked his supporters in Rotuma and throughout the country for voting him into parliament.
