The real unsung heroes of the elections have been those working tirelessly behind the scenes.

From shift workers to those facilitating the media, these workers have emerged as true winners who kept their cool while their every action was second-guessed by political parties.

Some who stood out for their dedication in keeping the electoral process transparent and to ensure correct information was readily available for dissemination have been:

– Talei Tora- acting Director Communications

– Vamarasi Motufaga-Voter Education

– Sheenal Sharma- Communications

– Ana Niumataiwalu- public relations officer

They coordinated a team that included graphic artists Joni Sauralatui and Victor Waqairawai.

They helped Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem and other departments in ensuring smooth running of the elections.

Other senior managers at the FEO include:

– Kamlesh Sharma – Director Corporate

– Robin Boyd – Director Operations

The Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji

Military Forces officers were also commended for their efforts.   They helped with security in urban areas and at polling venues and, most importantly, the voters who turned out in numbers, 496,364 to be exact, to cast their  votes were also heroes of this election.

Also, the low number of invalid votes-only 0.75 per cent, an all time low for Fiji shows that voter education was a success.

The voter education campaign was carried out by the elections team  all over the country achieved results well above expectations.
