Matererega Joins Lautoka

The 2014 Fiji FACT champions Nadi suffered a major setback prior to their Courts Inter-District Championship which starts next week.

Former national Under-20 and Nadi top striker Rusiate Matererega has been released to join Lautoka.

He is among the first player to move during the transfer window this month.

Nadi Football coach Kamal Swamy said Matererega’s departure was unfortunate.

“It is simple. we won’t be holding any players who want to move,” Swamy said.

It is also likely that Napolioni Qasevakatini and Samuela Drudru would join other districts.

“We have other players who can fit and Nadi will be a good team at the IDC next weekend. There will be some new faces and positional changes.”

Swamy remains mum on new players but it is understood that a player from Dreketi have joined the jetsetters.

Nadi plays Tailevu/Naitasiri in its first pool match at 6pm next Saturday at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.

Rewa in Pacific Cup

Meanwhile, Rewa will make their debut in the 3rd Pacific Cup in Sydney, Australia on November 19-23.

The Delta Tigers join defending champions Nadi, Suva and Ba.

The tournament is scheduled at the Sydney United Football Stadium.
