The Labasa Quake Futsal Association played their fifth round of the Vodafone Fiji FA Open Futsal League at the Fiji Sugar Corporation Futsal Park on Monday night.

Association president Kamendra Naidu said more teams had been playing in the tournament.

“We have two divisions of games, one is the Vodafone Fiji FA Open League where we have 16 teams,” Naidu said.

“Eighteen teams are in the Northern Air Business House Futsal League.” On Monday, TOTAL 2 – USP 0, Vision Motors 2 Tabia Central 0, Northern Bullet 0 – Friends United 1, Batinikama 2 -Siberia Youth 0, Sangam 3 – Boca United 0, Vision Motors 1 – Tabia 4, Fire 1 – Namara Youth 1.

In the Kamendra Cup Challenge, the Labasa Futsal team fought hard to beat Fiji Forest Industry (FFI) 5 – 3. In the first-half FFI led 3 – 1. FFI player Seremaia V was the man of the match after he scored three goals and the fastest goal in the game – 17 seconds.

That did not deter the Labasa Futsal team making them score one goal in the first half and four in the second-half. Aman Prasad scored three goals, and one each to Rahul Kumar and Anit Ram. President Kamendra Naidu said he requested companies and other stakeholders to support Futsal in Labasa.

“We request the president of Fiji F.A to allocate more funds for Futsal in the North as we have a association and a district team.

We have the Vodafone Fiji FA Open League where we have 16 teams, and 18 teams in the Northern Air Businesshouse Futsal League.
