The Ba Sanatan Dharm Partinidhi Sabha has started preparing for the upcoming Diwali celebrations that will be hosted at the Ba Town Council Hall on October 18.

This was confirmed by Ba branch president, Dhirendra Nand, after the veneration of the nine days and nine nights of Nauratam Pooja last Saturday.

“We have concluded our most celebrated Navratri pooja, a festival devoted to goddess Durga and we now shift our focus on the Diwali celebrations,” Mr Nand said.

“During the 2013 Diwali celebrations, we hosted more than 500 people from all walks of life and we hope to see this number increase this year.”

Through the Diwali celebrations, he said the Sabha’s aim was to unite all Fijians to build a unified Fiji.

“During the Navratri festival, we hosted more than 200 devotees who took part in the daily pooja programme, led by Vyasa Ritesh Sharma at Wailialia Kuti Temple in Ba.”

Mr Nand said this was the third consecutive prayer event performed at such a large scale that was organised by the branch in Ba this year.

“Our focus now shifts to the grand Diwali celebration which will be held at Ba Town Council Hall,” he said.

“I urge all the registered Ramayan Mandali’s to prepare well and come out in numbers to celebrate Diwali.”

The Sabha has planned a float procession during the day followed by an evening of cultural performances displayed on stage.

“The Ba Sabha is in the process of making its first three-year strategic plan to plot imperative infrastructural developments for Sanatani’s,” Mr Nand said.

Mr Nand thanked the devotees and the Sabha members for organising a lunch treat for the students of Wailailai Sanatan Primary School in Ba on the ninth day of Nauratam pooja.
