The Australian University Rugby League team arrived into the country yesterday for a three-match tour.

This is their first tour to Fiji and the players are eager to take on their Fijian counterparts.

Coach Mark Gliddom said they are looking forward to their three matches.

“We are very excited and we are looking forward to it,” he said.

They will take on the University of South Pacific Rugby League team tomorrow at the USP ground in Laucala at 2pm.

“This is the first time for the boys. They are uni students and some for them have played in the Investec Super Cup, NSW Cup and other competitions,” he added.

“We do not know much about Fiji, but the conditions here suit your guys more than us. This is real positive for a professional contract in footy and to represent the country in footy.”

The team will be part of the school coaching clinics at primary schools participating in the Mini Mods on October 13.

Their second match will be against the Fiji National University team next  Tuesday at the FNU ground.

The third match will be against the University of Fiji team at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on October 17 at 4pm.  Gliddom who played for Brisbane Broncos had taken over the coaching role for the team. He played against the Vodafone Fiji Bati in 1992 at Lane Park which featured dual international Noa Nadruku.
