Company Plans To Buy New Vessel

The Consort Shipping Line Limited is still contemplating buying a new vessel. Company’s manager finance and corporate Adrial Prasad said, they are still looking for a new vessel.

The company’s lone vessel Spirit of Fiji Islands (SOFI) was sold off after it ran aground in Koro on March, 2013.

“There is no vessel going for us at the moment,” Mr Prasad said.

“The company needs a new one and we are exploring our options at the moment.”

He said there was a big void to fill after the vessel ran aground. “We need to get another vessel of the same nature that it is specifically designed for our needs.

“The facilities on board range from the spacious sun deck through to air-conditioned lounges and cabins. She also had three floors of accommodation each with their own entertainment, bar facility and cafeteria.”

Mr Prasad indicated that it would take some time to get in the best replacement.

However, he said they are also waiting to see how everything pans out with the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) in accordance with the new rules and decree.
