A priest has become so offended by his female parishioners’ skimpy outfits he has issued written guidelines on the length of skirt to wear to church.

The dress code notice with two drawings of what to wear and what not was put up by the priest outside his church at Gesico, Cagliari in Sardinia.

The first photo shows a woman in a T-shirt and knee-length skirt, resting just above the knee.

The second shows a woman wearing a short top and mini-skirt – which is marked through with a black cross.

According to Il Mattino, a caption with the images reads: ‘Is it clear? The skirt must reach and touch the knees, don’t make the priest throw you out.’

Earlier this year a court in southern Italy also banned entry to people ‘dressed indecently’. It targeted those wearing transparent or low-cut tops, flip flops and mini-skirts.
