In its efforts to take services closer to the people the Government plans to build a substation at Wainua in Wainimala, Naitasiri.

The assistant senior Roko Tui Naitasiri, Seru Ratukalou, revealed this during the Naitasiri tradeshow held at Syria Park in Nausori yesterday.

“There is only one Government station in Naitasiri that is located in Vunidawa. This is far away from those people living in districts Muaira, Nagonenicolo, Nabobuco and Noimalu right up in Wainimala,” Mr Ratukalou said.

“The objective really is taking the service closer to the people who normally have to travel all the way to Vunidawa to get help.”

He said there was a lot of support from members of the provincial council about the project.

“The landowners have given their approval for the piece of land in which the station is going to be built on and we are now awaiting Government’s plan on when the construction will begin,” Mr Ratukalou said.

He said Government services like the Police, health and agriculture department would be based at the station.
