The Project Bula Mai – Style Fiji 2014 Christmas celebration charity fashion show last Saturday night bagged close to $60,000.

The charity fashion show was held at the Denarau Island Convention Centre, Sheraton Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi.

The best glitz and glamour of the fashion industry of Fiji and the Pacific was revealed on a catwalk in support of St John Ambulance proposed base in Nadi.

The chairman of the charity trust, Adrian Sofield, said the fundraising event, in its fourth year, was growing bigger.

“It was very successful we had few unique entertainment from overseas the Fobsquad dance crew from Auckland, and aerial art troupe from Hawaii,” Mr Sofield said.

“I have a very good committee and they work very hard to put it together.”

Mr Sofield said the financial contribution from the auction alone was $40,000 which contributed towards the success of the worthy cause which.

“In estimation we raised around $60,000 on the night but will confirm with the accounts which will take two weeks time.”

Some of the draw cards for the night included a fusion of fashion, music and entertainment featuring local and international designers in the likes of Pacific Islands Art, NAINA by Naina Sayed-Khaiyum, Bridal wear by Hupfield Hoerder and Tribal Grunge by Faraz Ali.

He said the objective of Project Bula Mai was to improve the health services for the people of Nadi and its surrounding areas.

This year the task is to set up the first St John Ambulance base in Nadi.

“We have given them $34,000 this year in August and hope Charity Show will get the site sorted and get us moving,” Mr Sofield said.

Project Bula Mai acknowledges the generous support and assistance  from corporate organisations, the sponsors and the community.
