Former Vodafone Flying Fijians skipper Netani Talei is a man on a mission.

His goals are to win back his spot in the national team and to make the final squad for next year’s Rugby World Cup in London.

Speaking to SUNsports, Talei who is in the country for the holidays, said he needed to have a much-needed rest time before the busy 2015 season kicked off.

The rugged No.8 cum blindside flanker took time out from his family farm in Tavua to visit Suva yesterday.

“I’ve been out for the past three months with an injury and I hope to be back on the field by January 2,” he said.

“I came home to get rehabilitated and also spend some time with my children and family in Tavua for Christmas before I head back. I’m definitely looking forward to a great 2015 season.”

Talei said his main focus was the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

“I’m looking forward to it as well as the Pacific Nations Cup if it can be fitted in. There’s much to be done and I look forward to it.”

The 31-year-old will spend Christmas with his family before heading back to Wales on December 29 and resume his training on January 2, 2015

Talei missed the Vodafone Flying Fijians Europe tour in November as he spent the last three months off the field after sustaining a foot injury. He left Newport Gwent Dragons Club in October, after playing for them since April 2013.
