Hard work finally paid off for best friends Shayal Devi and Ashna Deo of Rishikul Sanatan College in Nasinu after receiving their Fiji Seventh Form Examination (FSFE) results yesterday.

They were among hundreds of teenagers who were filled with trepidation as they picked up their FSFE results at the Ministry of Education’s examination centre at Suva’s Selbourne Street.

Shayal said could not contain her joy after she received her marks.

“My mother passed away in March this year and ever since then my life has completely changed.”

She said she missed her mother a lot and she wanted to work hard and become something in her life.

“I’m so happy with my marks and that my hard work has paid off.”

Shayal said she wanted to study accounting and finance at the University of the South Pacific.

Her father, Shalend Kumar said Shayal had to miss one month of school after her mother passed away however she coped very well.

“My daughter has made me very proud and I will support her in her further studies,” Mr Kumar said.

He said every student should study hard and work towards their goals.
